چکیده

Properties of propagation modes for a layered ZnO/XZ LiNbO3 surface acoustic wave sensor have been investigated both theoretically and experimentally. By calculating the effective permittivity function, it was shown that after the ZnO deposition two distinct propagation modes have been generated: a Rayleigh and a shear horizontal. A layer of InOx was deposited to provide a conductometric sensing mechanism to NO2. It was found that the sensor is at least one order of magnitude more sensitive when operating in Rayleigh mode than in the shear horizontal mode. This sensitivity was found to be in good agreement with calculations for low concentrations of NO2, however discrepancies were observed for higher concentrations.

TiO2 based surface acoustic wave gas sensor with modified electrode dimensions for enhanced H2 sensing application

The design and optimization of nanostructure-based surface acoustic wave (SAW) gas sensor is analyzed based on TiO2 sensing layer and modified electrode dimensions. The sensitivity of the gas sensor depends upon the type of sensing layer used and active surface area obtained by varying the aspect ratio. The performance of the sensor is observed from 0.1ppm to 100ppm concentration of ...

Wave propagation theory in offshore applications

A frequency-wavenumber-domain formulation is presented in this paper for calculation of the Green's functions and wave propagation modes in a stratified fluid body underlain by a layered viscoelastic soil medium. The Green's functions define the solid and fluid displacements and fluid pressures due to uniform disk loads acting in either the soil or fluid media. The solution is in the frequency ...

Wave Propagation Approach to Fluid Filled Submerged Visco-Elastic Finite Cylindrical Shells

Multi-layer orthotropic finite cylindrical shells with a viscoelastic core in contact with fluids are gaining increasing importance in engineering. Vibrational control of these structures is essential at higher modes. In this study, an extended version of the wave propagation approach using first-order shear deformation theory of shell motion is employed to examine the free vibration of damped ...

Impact of Layout Sequence of the Natural and Synthetic Adsorbents in Double-Layered Composites on Improving the Natural Fiber Acoustic Performance Using the Numerical Finite Element Method

Introduction: The acoustic performance of natural fiber adsorbents has been investigated in numerous studies. A part of these materials show a poor adsorption within the frequency range of less than 1000 Hz. In the present study, attempts were made to investigate the effect of layout sequence of double-layered composites consisting of natural and synthetic fibers on improving the acoustic adsor...
